AGM & 10th Birthday

On Wednesday 25th November 2015 we held our latest Annual General Meeting.  Following the business side of the meeting where the new annual report  and accounts were presented, we were joined by our guest speaker Jo Mcleish from The Media room Creative Communications Ltd.  Jo has recently been working with Home-Starts from Greater Manchester on a DVD called ‘Telling their Stories’ where real life families who have used Home-Start, tell their story and how Home-Start helped them.  This was a very moving and emotional film.  We are pleased to say that Jo is going to start work on a similar film for The Home-Start Birmingham Consortium in 2016.

Following on from this, our guests joined us for a Buffet lunch and Birthday Cake to start the beginning of Home-Start Bartley Green & Quinton’s 10th Year.

Our new volunteers

We are currently training 10 new volunteers on our volunteer preparation course, this will be completed on Thursday 12th November.  We are hoping to be able to match them with families wanting a volunteer before Christmas, providing all their DBS checks and references are back.

QA Assessment

On Wednesday 7th October the scheme had their Home-Start Quality Assurance Assessment.  They were visited by an assessor who spent the day looking at files and systems in place, talking to staff and trustees and ensuring the way we work is up to standard and safe.  We have an action plan to put a few new things in place by March 2016 but the outcome was very positive and this will be excellent to share with future funders.
